EWandD sash and case restoration team recently completed this full house of window repairs and restoration. All windows were fully stripped of all paint, timber repairs were made and given a final seal with repair care resin. We use repair care resin due to the quality and longevity of timber repairs that are possible using this product. There were a number of broken panes of glass on these old sash and case windows. Our team took time to source traditional crown glass to repair the broken panes. Due to the age of the windows there was no draught proofing installed on them and the windows were prone to rattle in the wind. We resolved this by fully draught proofing the windows. Once all timber repairs were complete our paint team got to work putting our three coat paint system onto the sashes and the cases. Along with the traditional sand mastic seal around the exterior frame. The customer was looking to improve the thermal efficiency of the windows without having to resort to secondary glazing or have the cost of retro fitting double glazing into the existing panes. The property was also listed so may not have been granted planning permission for this. We have instead provided the customer with an option for gecko panes. These panes fit into the surround of each individual pane of glass and provide a second layer of protection against the cold. Having now completed the project the home owner can look forward to warmer less draughty windows for years to come.
