We were contacted by Gail to have her windows fully refurbished. The work was undertaken in November so the weather was against us, this project was completed over the course of a week. The windows were extremely draughty and in poor condition with all the cills being rotten and a number of broken panes of glass. We also manufactured a new lower sash due to the amount of Rotten timber in the existing sash. A typical full refurbishment includes the following work. Windows are fully stripped of paint, mastic is removed, any loose putty is removed along with handles and locks and pulleys. Draught strips are routed into the existing sashes. We foam the cavity behind the sand mastic. We replace any rotten timber with new redwood timber and re weight the existing windows to ensure they are balanced and work correctly. Once there windows are all stripped back ant the new pulleys and draught strips and putty is in we then get everything working perfectly. Glazing will also have been replaced at this stage. We offer a full painting service which is three coats applied to the windows to ensure they will last the test of time. Windows are left looking fantastic with a final clean off the glass. Full restoration is a great way to rejuvenate your existing timber sash and case windows and Edinburgh Windows and Doors take care of the full process.
