Full Sash and Case Window Restoration
For full sash and case windows restoration, includes the following steps. We fully remove all paint, old ironmongery, mastic, loose putty, ropes and weights and old beads. We then have a clean slate to repair any rotten timber. We foam the cavity and use traditional sand mastic to re seal the gap. We fully draught proof sashes, windows are re weighted and new ironmongery is fitted. The windows are re roped and new beads are fitted. We also offer a full painting service if required.
Draught Proofing
Sash windows are an integral part of Edinburgh’s architectural heritage. There is no need however to live with draughty windows. Here’s how we can help. Edinburgh Windows and Doors offer a full draught proofing service that will make sure your windows are ready for winter. You may think that a DIY option will suffice when draught proofing windows. We have found that this is often not the case. As such we do not just stick draught strips down the side of your windows. The top and bottom sash are removed from the box, we then router out grooves in the upper sash, lower sash and meeting rails ready to fit our brush draught strips. The original parting beads are also removed and either routed in the same fashion or replaced with new parting beads with pre inserted draught strips. If required we will also replace the internal beads with draught alternatives to ensure there is no air leakage and your windows retain the heat while keeping cold draughts out.
Window Maintenance

We have developed our own packages that make sash and case maintenance and repair simple for our customers. If you have taken a look around any town or city you will notice that there is a trend with sash and case windows. Poor maintenance, this inevitably has a compound effect and can lead to large costs to have windows replaced or a large amount of repair work is required. Edinburgh windows and doors take the hassle out of maintenance. If you have had a partial or full restoration or we have supplied and fitted new timber sash and case windows, we offer a yearly maintenance plan. This includes: Checking for moisture or rot ingress, mastic touch ups and repairs, light sand and paint touch ups, checking ropes and lubricating pulleys, checking and replacing draught strips if required.

Fineo Glass
Fineo is standard version is composed of a 0.1mm vacuum sandwiched between two sheets of glass, each between 3 and 6 mm. One of the glass sheets is covered with a low emissivity coating. Fineo achieves similar thermal performance to triple glazing while being 3 to 4 times thinner. Its thinness makes it an elegant solution for all your projects. It integrates perfectly into most existing frames, so it is often the most cost-effective solution for restoration and renovation projects.
Service Package
If Edinburgh Windows and Doors have done a full restoration or supplied new sash and case windows, we offer a service package that will keep your windows maintained to a high standard year on year. We offer this service at a cost per window and will arrange a yearly visit to complete maintenance on your sash and case windows. This includes but is not limited to sanding and topping up any paint that has started to flake, re rope any windows where rope has failed, service the pullys and clean glass.
